About Us

The Flour Shop is a 4th generation small family business that developed from a hobby to a dream come true for owner and designer Hannah James. Hannah graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in Horticulture and an emphasis in floral design. Since she was a little girl she dreamed about being able to open up her own flower shop. In May of 2017 she started decorating cookies for her family "just for fun", but quickly learned that others enjoyed them just as much! Less than a year later that hobby turned into a online business and pop up shop that she ran between her apartment in San Antonio and her mom's kitchen in Choate, but by October of 2018 she opened the doors of her own storefront in Kenedy. With the opening of the shop she became a full service florist and added multiple bakery items to the daily menu in addition to the decorated sugar cookies she had been known for.

In February of 2020 we opened the doors of our "forever home" located on 5th street in Kenedy after purchasing a property and completing a full scale renovation on the building formerly established as "Johnson's Flowers and Gifts" in 1940. Our hope is to provide joy to our small town community no matter what occasion bring you through our doors. From working the front counter to assisting with deliveries, it's a family affair to keep this shop running! From our family to yours, we put lots of love and careful attention in each item and we hope you enjoy our work as much as we enjoy bringing it to you.
